Services: Wire-cut EDM
|
 |
Eroding by means of electrical discharge machining (EDM; sometimes referred to as spark ersosion) cuts a digitally programmed outline in a workpiece with
the help of a metal wire (electrode). It is used for example for making dies, moulds and special metal parts. Also for parts with complex outlines as is
the case e.g. with milled parts, wire-cut EDM is often a cost-efficient alternative.

By means of EDM finished products such as cutting tools, objects that are made from one piece and parts with intricate shapes e.g. injection moulds can be manufactured.

The wire can be pitched; in that way tapered workpieces with varying profiles on the upper and the lower side can be produced. At no time is there any
mechanical contact between the electrode and the workpiece! Usually the wire is made of copper or brass with a diameter of 0.02 to 0.3 mm.
