Services: Sinker EDM
|
 |
Electro-erosion by means of sinking into a metal workpiece reproduces the shape of the tool which is referred to as the electrode.

Injection moulds for plastic parts are very often machined using sinker EDM. The shape of the electrode corresponds to exactly the shape of the object to be cast.

Along the cutting path each electric discharge of the electrode produces a micro-crater in the workpiece (material removal) and a melting loss
on the tool (debris of the electrode tool). At no time is there contact between the electrode and the workpiece. The electrode is usually made of
copper or graphite.
