Mouldmaking

Mouldmaking is a specialised area of toolmaking in which tools (moulds)
for large-scale production are manufactured.
The articles produced in bulk production are used in technics, household goods and so on. Starting from a certain minimum quantity moulds allow economical
and quick production of parts. Mouldmaking deals mostly with producing 3-dimensional but also 2-dimensional shapes. The actual mould
in most cases is made
of hardened and tempered tool steel or hard metal. Most of the highly accurate contours are cut with the help of different machine tools.
Mouldmaking is
a highly specialised area of mechanical engineering which deals amongst other things with the manufacturing of injection moulds.
